It's my birthday! πŸ₯³

Remember Kool & the Gang's song Celebration? It started with "Celebrate good times, come on!"

The radio DJ would play the song and then announce the birthdays of the day.

Even though I knew no one had called in my name, I'd still listen to see if another Kathy and I shared our special day. πŸ€πŸ˜‚

Mom didn't let a holiday go by unnoticed, not even "minor" holidays. Nothing extravagant. Just a little something to mark the day, like a card and candy.

But on our birthdays, she would go over the top! πŸ₯³ Well, what felt like over the top to us.

Dad would make a Barbie doll cake for the girls and a Winnie the Pooh cake for my brother.

From the age of 10 through 15, there were four kids in my household: my brother and two cousins, who were about our same age, and me.

My cousins and brother were my first authentic friend group. We had each other's back no matter what.

As I'm reflecting on this past year, I want to thank all of you for being a part of my life.

I'm celebrating OUR resilience during this past year and the power of connections.

When times were really tough, knowing I wasn't in this alone kept me going. I hope you know I'm here for you as well. 😘

Here's to another year around the sun together! πŸ₯³

P.S. For the longest time Dad would use Cinco de Mayo to remind him of my birthday. He'd casually say my birthday was May 5! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Anywho, May the Fourth be with you!
