What is she telling you today?

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's be clear here. It's not a 'job.' They're a client. That's a huge difference for you. I'm just reminding you what you said to me. Don't lose yourself."

Oh, out of the mouth of babes!

My son, Gabe, and I were talking the other day and I shared how my work was a bit all consuming these days.

In the past, people pleasing and perfectionism resulted in burnout because of my lack of boundaries.

I wanted to "do it all" and go "above and beyond" for the gold star.

The deep down issue? I didn't feel that I was enough. Or that I had to prove myself constantly or the powers that be would see I was an imposter.

Sound familiar? Yeah. I know. πŸ˜”

Here's the thing. People pleasing and perfectionism is not a good use of our time.

Remember my SOUL framework?

  • S - settle on your bandwidth

  • O - optimize your time

  • U - utilize your money, in order to

  • L - live your best life

If you're constantly trying to keep others happy at the expense of your bandwidth, happiness, and time, your per hour earnings decrease.

You're basically spending time to make money for the things you can't spend time on because you're working. (Say that a few times fast πŸ˜†.)

My point is that you're on the proverbial hamster wheel.

But, you say, "Kath, the work HAS to get done. What am I supposed to do?"

Glad you asked:

Remember you are enough. No amount of accomplishments increases or diminishes that fact. The crazy side effect? Once you accept this truth, you accomplish more. Go figure! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Be present. Christine Hassler of the Over it and On With It podcast has a mantra: Be here now. All is well. This snaps me right back to the present when I'm feeling overwhelmed.

How do you want to feel? If you want more ease and flow in your life, what does that look like for you? Do you get that from a walk, reading a special book, taking frequent breaks, or yoga? Make time for those things and watch how your productivity increases as well.

But honestly, the best person to tell you what you need is YOU, Love. She's with you 24/7. Take a break when you're amidst the crazy and listen closely.

(And sometimes you may get a spiritual download from your son. Thanks, Gabe! 😘)

Talk to you soon!

Peace, love, and light πŸ€—πŸ’•

Kathy

P.S. Are you super busy these days? Even if you're not, what's one thing you're doing to get to know yourself better? Let me know. I'm dying to hear!
